NKU FCA Dominican Republic Trip

Dear Friends,

God has presented me with a chance to visit the Dominican Republic as a missionary through the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) of Northern Kentucky University. It’s from December 28, 2018 to January 4, 2019.

For the past few years, I have felt a strong call to mission and charity work. In the Bible, it says to test these callings and I believe this trip to the Dominican will do just that. Jesus told us to go and make disciples, so please pray for me and the power of the Holy Spirit to take over on this trip. Pray there is spiritual movement within the youth of the Dominican Republic and God equips me to do His work.

We are going to serve the Marte Mission and 3 churches right in the heart of this community whose only hope is the Gospel. While most of us do not know Spanish very well...sports have a way of bridging the language barrier. Our athletic experience is a valued commodity and allows us to draw hundreds of kids to sport clinics while we are down there. Through sport and service, we want to bring people hope...in Christ, in eternity, and into God’s family. The Dominican Republic has incredible physical and spiritual needs.

I am so blessed to be living in America with all her blessings.  I can freely worship. I hope this trip helps me to never take the smallest things for granted – a good home, going to church, singing out loud, taking communion and speaking freely about Jesus. I cannot wait to build relationships with the kids and help others in the ways they need most.

Our team is talented, diverse, and is ready to use athletics to share God’s love. We are blessed to have the support of an NKU Alumni who pitches for the Chicago White Sox donating sports equipment, the athletic director’s blessing, and other friends and family.

Our heart is to reach grow spiritually and change lives...together.

I am asking if you can give financially to this mission trip. My goal is to raise $5,000 by December 1stfor the trip. Anything I can raise above my costs will be donated to Northern Kentucky University FCA and will to help other student athletes who would like to go on the trip as well.

The Financial Breakdown: $1,500 will cover my costs (flights, ground transportation, meals) We need supplies for the sports camps, and other items for people in need. This would be an Individual one-time donation.

I’m trusting God to provide by inviting people like yourself to partner with me in this work. Through that I can take advantage of this opportunity I only learned about a few weeks ago. This is an individual breakdown of what we would need to reach our financial goal.
Your gift is tax-deductible!

In closing…Our goal is not just a one-time event or a blip on the screen. We have seen lasting life change in people who have gone in previous years and we’re seeing growth with the Marte Mission down in the Dominican Republic. Please help us bring hope to a hurting community and boost the efforts of the mission in the Dominican Republic. Help us as NKU athletes grow closer to Jesus. Help us bring about positive change from right here in Northern Kentucky University!

Thanks for your prayers and consideration!

Sincerely,
Emma VonLehman
