Rescue Dexter Rex

Donation protected
I adopted Dexter Rex from the Champaign County Humane Society in July.  He had been there for 3 months, and was relinquished by his owner because he had a torn ACL and she couldn't afford the surgery.  He was operated on while there, but he has never totally recovered and doesn't always use the leg that the surgery was on.  We've been visiting the Vet Med Rehab Clinic to use the water treadmill but he hasn't made as much progress as I'd hoped.  Today they x-rayed his knee and discovered that the implants used in the knee repair have worked their way loose.  One looks like a screw and has wiggled its way out of the bone.  All of this is damaging his knee further, so of course he needs another surgery.  They estimated $1800-2400 for the repair and there is no way I can come up with that amount on my own.  If you know me, you know I don't like asking for help, but that I would also do anything for my dog.  He needs this surgery as soon as possible.  When I picked him up, I had to lift him into the car and then up on the landing at home (I didn't think I could do it but I did.)  I know times are hard right now for everyone so if you can't help, you don't need to explain, I understand.  But if you can, it will mean the world to us.
