Debby Sutphin is my cousin and not one to take help but always the one to give it, but now her and her sweet husband Blaine need blessed. Here's their story

Meet Debby and Blaine Sutphin   ...two of the sweetest ,most giving people you'll ever meet.  Debby has had a rare disease which attacks her joints  and has caused her to have several surgerys. Last spring she had rotator cuff surgery and came through it well but only a short time after started to experience pain in her hip....after much testing she was scheduled for a complicated hip surgery in Dec 2014 due to a torn labrum in her hip at
Duke University, which is 3 hours from their home. Her  husband Blaine is the sole provider for their household and each doctor visit reguires him to take at least one full day off work due to the distance . Plus travel expense such as gas, food and hotels for over night visits. The surgery seemed to go smoothly and she was recovering nicely at home. Then two and a half weeks post op, she started having some odd symptoms and a long series of events have taken place

Two weeks after surgery Debby was rushed to the local ER with a temperature of 105.8 and her blood pressure was 85/55 , she was gravely ill and suffering from Septic Shock . She was admitted again to Duke and found to have a nasty Staph infection that was present in her blood and bones.

After being in the hospital for another week and two additional surgerys to irrigate and clean the surgery sites and a Picc Line to get antibiotics directly in her three times a day , she was sent home to recover the day before Christmas. Being sent home on a Picc Line meant someone having to administer the IV , so when Debbys daughter couldn't be there Blaine had to miss more work. For a few weeks she still battled pain and fluctuating temperatures.

Debby then developed a blood clot in her leg  which led to another visit to Duke and blood thinner added to the Picc LIne as well.

All the time Debby and Blaine are still so positive and thanking God for His goodness  and love. Debby keeps assuring everyone it will be ok.

Finally after a couple of weeks they remove the Picc Line and she was placed on oral antibiotics and she starts physical therapy. All of a sudden Debbys pain started to get worse and physical therapy was too painful to continue......back to Duke

Feb 13th Debbys back at Duke and the doctor finds that a piece of bone in the socket part of the hip joint had broken off and every time Debby moves the bone continues to slowly crumble. She's again scheduled for surgery on Feb 27th.

Debby had Complete hip replacement  on the 27th ,of Feb. they had to go two days early to beat the expected snow storm and be there for pre op. The surgery was super risky because she still had the Staph infection but the pain was unbearable and had to be done

The surgery appears to be a success but now two days after she has spiked another high temp and it looks like either the original infection is holding on strong or a new one has been introduced to her body. Right now they are looking at another long hospital stay as they must find the source of this infection and decide how to treat it. Let's bless this couple and ease some of the financial strain this has put on them since last spring. We can't take away the physical pain but if we all do what we can we can alleviate some of the financial stress....Oh and we are all firm believers in prayer too so say one for Debby , Blaine and Blaines Dad (Baldy) who is gravely ill with cancer.  Thanks everyone for help.   Sharon
