Please help us get Carie thru chemo

Carie is 41 years old and has been battling Hodgkin's Lymphoma for the past 14 years. Throughout this journey, Carie's medical team has been able to use debilitating chemotherapy treatment to put her cancer in remission. She also went through a bone marrow transplant in an effort to get rid of the cancer for good. But this cancer is persistent and it continues to relapse.
Each round of toxic treatment takes a greater toll on Carie's body.
A few years ago, Carie's doctors told her about a new drug that was showing promise in helping Carie live a longer, fuller life. But it was still being researched and not yet available to the public. So Carie had to continue with the current harsh protocols in order to survive until the drug was available.
Last year, while undergoing yet another round of treatment, her body could no longer tolerate it and she became gravely ill. She spent a week in a coma in the ICU and very nearly lost her life.
For obvious reasons, she was not able to work for quite some time. Our beautiful little community pulled together to financially support Carie and her daughter at that time. After several months, Carie was well enough to return to work part time, but because she couldn't handle any more chemo, the cancer was still there. Doctors decided to put her on long-term steroids in an attempt to keep the cancer at bay.
That new drug was getting really close to being available.
Now Carie needs us again.
After a year and a half on steroids, they are no longer able to hold off the cancer. That promising drug was finally made available, so Carie's doctors tried to get it for her. It costs $1,009,000 (one MILLION!!!) for 26 doses. Doctors applied to the drug company to release the drug to them for Carie, and the drug company refused. Talk about heartbreaking...after spending years going through rigorous cancer treatment, nearly dying... and having something available that could finally mke her WELL...only to be turned down.
So, it's back to chemo we go. This woman will not give up. Her daughter just gave birth to the most beautiful baby boy, and Carie wants to be here to know him and watch him grow. Knowing how difficult this chemo was on Carie last time around, we are trying to prepare for her to need time off of work to recover. We are raising money for her family's living expenses until she is well enough to go back to work full time.
