On Sunday February 4th Robin went to the doctors to get treated for what she thought was the flu. She had the symptoms. Fever, aches, sweats, etc. The flu test came back negative, strep negative also. They took a blood sample and sent her home to rest and take cold/flu medicine. The next morning, the doctor called and instructed her to go to the emergency room ASAP because her blood test showed that her white blood cell count was off the chart. A healthy white blood cell count is 4,500-10,000. Robin's white blood cell count was a little over 90,000. Robin did not have the flu, she has Acute Leukemia. Robin stayed the night in Denton Presby as tests were being run. On Tuesday 2/6 she was transferred to UT Southwestern in Dallas to begin chemo. The doctors have told her that her treatment will have her in the hospital for at least a MONTH! She has a fight on her hands, but for anyone that knows Robin, she is up for the challenge. She has fought her whole life. Robin also has lupus and has fought that for 10+ years. She will fight Leukemia just the same. Robin has a grandson that is due in July, she is determined to be there when he arrives. Please, pray for Robin and her husband Tom. Tom will be by her side, day in and day out. Please pray for her family (sons, daughters, grandchildren) as they stand by her and help her battle.
The medical bills associated with this battle will be substantial. We are asking for anything you can contribute to help with this fight. We dont want her or her family to be worried about the bills pilling up, we want her to focus on the uphill battle that she has in front of her.
