Help us send Niskayuna's best track athletes to New Balance National Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina!
We have 10 Niskayuna High School Athletes that have qualified to compete at the National Championship meet in North Carolina on June 17th and 18th. Unfortunately this meet falls on the weekend between Regents and Final Exams requiring these scholar-athletes to travel by plane. We need help raising $7000 to get them to North Carolina! Because National Track Championship Meets are NOT NYS high school sactioned events, the receive ZERO funding from the school. All funds raised here will benefit each athlete equally.
Why do we think this competition is important? This group of 10 athletes - Marty Dolan, Madeleine Hesler, Amelia Kokernak, Charlotte Kokernak, Joe Quinn, Colin Ross, Lexi Sciortino, Sydney Smith, Abigail Spiers and Donnovan Tucker have had a record setting year in cross coutry and track and field and have brought the Niskayuna Track & Field Program into both the state and national spotlight. Here are some highlights:
*Abigail, Amelia, Lexi, Charlotte and Sydney were varsity scorers for the 2016 NY #5 Class A cross country team that placed 4th at the New York State Federation Championship Meet and 6th at the Nike Cross Nationals NY Regional meet. A first for the Niskayuna track and field program.
*Amelia, Abigail, and Sydney are from the 2017 indoor relay team that were 2017 Millrose Games 4x800m Champions with the fastest time run by a high school squad in the United States (US #1 for 4 weeks). This was Niskayuna's second-ever appearance at the oldest and most presitgious indoor track meet in the country. It was the first-ever Millrose Championship for Niskayuna. They went on to finish 5th at the New Balance National Indoor Championships making them National Scholastic Athletic Foundation All-Americans. The same squad competed at the 2017 Penn Relays 4x800m Championship of America and placed 10th out of 72 invited teams from the United States and Jamaica.
*Three of the athletes competed at State Championship meets - Abigail placed19th and Donnovan placed 21st overall in the 2016 NYS Cross Country Championship and Amelia placed 6th in the 1000m with an 8th All-Time Section 2 performance and US top-25 ranking at the 2017 NYS Indoor Track & Field Championships.
*Since January 1st, 2017, the girls have combined to set 8 VarsityTrack & Field school records and the boys have set two including Donnovan breaking the 39 year old record in the mile (currently ranked NY #4 among high school boys!). At the Shen Invy Marty ran a NY#5 time in the 3000m steeplechase which is currently the 8th fastest time for a high schooler in the United States this season! They are among the best in Section 2 and New York State. They have a chance to come home from North Carolina as All-Americans.

Girls 4 x 800m Championship: Charlotte, Amelia, Abigail and Sydney
Boys 4 x mile Championship: Colin, Donnovan, Joe and Marty
Girls 4 x mile Championship: Abigail, Charlotte, Lexi and Madeleine
