Nino Strong: Joe's Fight against Brain Cancer
Donation protected
The past year has set an unprecedented measure on the ability to fight for survival. While in normal circumstances, Joe would be chatting with loved ones, singing Frank Sinatra or tending his local business, Ninos Deli and Ice Cream. Joe is a man of faith and an active member of Duxbury Church. He is always stepping up to serve others at work and in the community. For those who know Joe, it is very seldom that he does not have a smile on his face, ready to talk and laugh.
Joe and his wife Kim are in urgent need of your help. Joe has recently undergone surgery to remove a 13 centimeter brain tumor. In addition to such a critical surgery, Joe has received the diagnosis of stage 3 brain cancer, anaplastic astrocytoma. At the age of 31, Joe is now in survival mode as he fights for his life, against this relentless cancer. Joe will continue radiation for 6.5 weeks, and will receive chemotherapy treatment seven days a week, for a total of 52 weeks. As you can imagine, the treatment for brain cancer has caused incredible physical, emotional, and financial strains on him as well as his family.
The Gratta’s are faced with significant financial hardship to cover out-of-pocket expenses to get Joe the care he needs. During this time, Joe is unable to work and is dependent on his staff, and loved ones to support Nino’s Deli & Ice Cream’s daily operations. Joe’s wife, Kim thankfully has been approved to attend Joe’s treatments. She has taken on numerous roles such as maintaining their family owned business, bringing Joe into Boston for all treatments, and other various caretaker tasks.
It’s time to be “Nino Strong” for Joe as he continues his battle against brain cancer. At such a young age, Joe is faced with an unimaginable situation. We have started this GoFundMe page on behalf of Joe and Kim, to assist with the financial impact of medical care during such a challenging time. All donations will go towards alleviating Joe’s medical expenses. If you can not donate, please share his story so others can consider donating to support Joe or even stopping by Ninos Deli and Ice Cream.
Our goal is set to $65,000; which is half the out of pocket cost of his chemotherapy treatment needed, not including costs of radiation, travel, or expenses involved. Thank you for all of your support!
