Nina's Ninjas Fight Off Cancer

After coming down with a stomach bug and not being able to recover, Nina started to have symptoms of something more serious. Her abdomen began filling with fluid and pressure and she had a loss of appetite and energy. She went for an ultrasound and testing the week before Thanksgiving and was kept at Scripps Hospital in San Diego where they drained over 5 quarts of fluid from her. It was determined that Nina had a melon sized tumor on her ovaries as well as additional tumors throughout her abdomen.
 
Nina believes in the power of holistic medicine and has lived her life and raised her family believing in spirituality, clean eating and living in the moment. The news of her cancer diagnosis has been hard to digest for everyone that knows her, but more importantly, for her daughter and true love, Alec. However, she is ready to deal with this head on and share her story and strength with others.
 
As of now, the course of treatment for Nina involves intensive chemotherapy and future surgeries to shrink and eradicate the tumors. The cost of this care (expected to be well over $100,000) and the pressures it puts on Nina and her family are unavoidable.
 
While we have no doubt that she will beat this and will be drinking wine in Italy this time next year, we know that Nina and her family are going to have to overcome a great deal of obstacles to get there.
