I came to this country in 1974 after finishing tailoring and design school in Italy. I wanted to conquer the world with my knowledge and wisdom (I was only 16 at the time). I have been helping people look and feel great by making their clothes fit perfectly ever since! I love my job because I do it well, but more importantly, because I have been able to meet many wonderful people.
Unfortunately, something has happend that put my dreams on hold. I thought this would never happen to me, because I have always eaten healthy, do not smoke or drink , work out etc. But it still happened to me...
Four years ago I had a small cyst in my breast. I thought "no big deal", I have had this before and it went away. I thought this will go away also, but it did not. Eventually I had surgery, I did everything I was supposed to do and seemingly all was going well. I returned to work after 3 1/2 weeks after surgery feeling happy and strong.
Sadly a tumor began growing on my neck last November. I was devastated, but I knew what I had to do. Unfortunately money was a major issue, as it cost $50k for the first 3 months of treatment. Luckily, my family was able to put together the funds enabling me to get the initial treatment.
The treatment, combined with the help of God and prayers from my family and friends have done wonders. Before, the tumor looked like a golf ball was sitting right under my skin. I had lost over 15% of my weight (I'm normally 104 lbs). I was on oxygen, could not speak, and didn't have the strength to walk even a few steps.
As I wrap up the first 3-months of therapy, the tumor is no longer visible, I am off oxygen, and can even go on short walks! The feeling is incredible and I'm finally hopeful...
Unfortunately, I'm not out of the woods yet. According to my doctors, I need to continue treatment for at least 3 more months and then re-evaluate. However, I am unable to do so financially, as it will take another $50K, which we don't have.
So, I am asking for your help to to continue my journey of healing. I have a chance to beat this terrible desease, and I pray that I am able to see this through. I only wish to get my life back and return to my work and the friends I've made along the way.
I love what I do, so please help me continue to be able to do what I love.
