Our life-long friend, Jack Nimmo, had a massive stroke on January 4th while on a business trip and has been in ICU at Medical City – Plano for the past 13 days. He will be there for the foreseeable future until he can be transported by ambulance to an inpatient rehabilitation facility in Houston where Jack, his wife, Celeste, and his kids, Taylor and Cody, live.
It will be a very long road to recovery. He has major brain hemorrhaging and two massive blood clots – one in his carotid (neck) artery. The brain hemorrhaging is so severe that they cannot operate on the clots. There are so many unknowns at this point, and Jack is in severe condition.
Celeste has been with Jack at the hospital in Plano since the stroke. His company was able to pay for her first week of lodging up there, but now they are on their own for those costs. The lodging and travel costs for Celeste and the kids over the next several weeks will be a tremendous financial burden, as will the cost of transporting Jack back to Houston by ambulance, which isn’t covered by insurance. Long-term disability insurance will not be enough to help them cover these costs or the mounting medical and rehabilitation bills.
If you know Jack, you know where he’d tell me to go if I said I was setting up this GoFundMe site. He’s never been one to mince words or ask for anything, but Jack and his family really need help right now. So if there is anything you can contribute, it would go a long way to ensuring that they get the support and help that Jack needs.
