Nimi Education Fund
Donation protected
This fund was conceived together with Jillian Crocker founder of Dots & Loops (promoting feminine hygiene and education) and Ngima Sherpa founder of Nine Hills Association during a recent trip to the remote villages of the Okhaldhunga district of Eastern Nepal. Nimi Education Fund is dedicated to a girl called Nimi who died of a sudden illness whilst we were visiting. She was the younger sister of Diku, a wonderful young lady who was our assistant whilst in Nepal, helping us communicate with the women & distribute menstruation kits. Diku herself had to leave school at age 12 after her mother died in childbirth, leaving Diku to take care of her younger siblings. We recognized the need for a scholarship fund as a vital step to give young people the chance to learn new skills that they could subsequently give back to their communities. Diku is the first beneficiary of the fund.
