Making the unseen seen...
The mission is to explore the issue of plastics, chemicals, endocrine disruptors and carcinogens in our personal and global environment that can cause disease. The aim is to engage women in scientific narratives relating to the consumer choices they make, and their long-term health impacts on themselves and our environment.
This is eXXpedition.
My work in the sphere of ecology education and the way that cancer has impacted on the women in my life has made me want to explore these areas more deeply. The opportunity to experience an epic sailing adventure to push me out of my compfrt zone as I do so, was too exciting to pass up.
I am hoping to join the S/V Seadragon to navigate around the coast of Scotland at the end of August to aid the exploration of the impact of plastics and chemicals to marine life and human health.
Our all female crew will be stopping off along the way to work with local communities and tourists to raise awareness, share findings and educate.
This is an amazing opportunity, but it won't be easy....and I need your help to make this happen.
If you could donate, even just a couple of pounds, you will be facilitating the connection of people with the ocean (and the issues of plastics and toxics). You will be helping to add to the growing data set of plastics and toxics in our ocean and importantly celebrating the role of women in science, technology and sailing - breaking down stereotypes, and also harnessing the power within them.
Your donation will be allow the project to continue to inform consumers about everyday choices and support global action on toxic chemical, influencing governments to take regulatory action for a cleaner environment.
