Nikki's Sepsis Battle

Up until last Sunday, her 33rd birthday, Nikki was a relatively healthy woman. With no major health problems, she didn't expect what was supposed to be a celebratory day, end in almost tragedy.
She woke up on schedule to get ready for work, and noticed that she had some tenderness in her left breast. Writing it off to a bad sleep position, she continued to get ready. Within 30 minutes of arriving to work, the pain increased. She ended up collapsing in excruciating pain and was rushed to the emergency room on her birthday.
After some testing, She diagnosed with Sepsis, almost going into Septic shock. Not many people understand what that is. This infection has a 50% mortality rate. Sepsis is a life-threatening condition that arises when the body's response to infection injures its own tissues and organs. It's extremely painful. Nikki told her husband, CJ, that she thought she was going to die.
Nikki was rushed into emergency surgery on Monday night, August 8th at 5:00. Due to the emergency circumstances, the doctors were left with no choice but to remove her breast implant and all remaining breast tissue and flush out as much infection as possible. Following the surgery, she spent another four days at the hospital on heavy antibiotics via IV to help kill any remaining infection.
We all wish that prayers and positive thoughts could take the financial burdens away, but they do not. Nikki & CJ have 4 children, and are about to get hit with astronomical medical bills. A 5 day hospital stay alone can exceed $10,000. Their health insurance is fairly minimal and isn't going to begin to cover what they're in store for. This doesn't include Nikki no longer being able to work, and the reconstructive breast surgery she is going to need in about six months.
