Nikki Sharp's 2020 Giveback Cause

 Hi, my name is Nikki Sharp. You may or may not know me, but I have 340,000 followers on Instagram where I teach people how to lead healthier and happier lives.

The day before Thanksgiving I decided to pay the bills of my followers and offer money for food, in addition to Christmas gift packages I will be sending to those in need. I know first-hand what it’s like to not have enough money to pay bills and so I wanted to give back during a time when I know so many are struggling during 2020.

This went viral within hours when dozens of other big named influencers began sharing what I was doing and offering the same to their communities. I received countless messages from people sharing their most intimate details of financial woes, having medical bills they couldn’t pay for due to being laid off during COVID and losing health insurance.

At the same time, I also began receiving messages from friends and followers I didn’t know offering money as they were so inspired by what I did, as well as their services such as health coaching, free gym memberships and products from their stores.
 
What was just a simple idea I had has turned into something MUCH greater.

Thus far I have paid $7,000 to random strangers to help them pay bills and it would be so wonderful to be able to help even more people out. It has blown my mind the acts of kindness of others to donate, as well as shocked me to learn how many people are truly struggling right now.

I’ve sent money to families who cannot pay the bills of their babies’ diapers, to saving a car from being reposed, a mother of 5 who got COVID and couldn’t work, losing her entire income, to others who use the money to help people get off the street.


 
What I’m asking for today...

Any monetary donation, gift cards to places like Target, Whole Foods, or pre-paid visa cards. Gifts that I can package up and send as Christmas presents, or if you have a product or service that you’d like to offer someone to help them.

 
How you know your donation is going to the people most in need...

As I’m sure you can imagine, I was inundated with requests to help these beautiful strangers. I’ve broken the giving into 4 categories and asked my followers to be very specific on what they are asking for. (See details here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CIES2r4MZNK/?igshid=1eh7i5zr4m2qe)

I have organized it in this way:

1)    Everyone who is interested had to write a comment choosing what they need
2)    I’ve created a spreadsheet based on each category and who is asking what
3)    I have a conversation with each person I am choosing in direct messages on IG to learn as much as I can about their situation to make sure they are truly in need
4)    I then either get their address for gifts, gift cards or their paypal/venmo to send the exact money for bills

Rest assured that your money is truly going to those who need it.

My four goals by the end of the year are: reach $10,000 to help as many as possible, match 31 people to 31 coaches during December to help them get back on track, send 31 gift packages, and provide 31 meals to families.

Obviously if we could double or triple this it would be even better.
