We believe in a progressive, open and accessible museum sector. And we know we are not alone in this.
But where do you start, when you're haunted by deadlines? And where do you find like minded souls when you don't always feel supported within your own organisation? To make change happen, we need each other: the aspiring museum professional, the old trooper and the freelancer.
Once a month, the team of Night Shift organises an evening full of inspiration and debate for people who work with museums, art and heritage in the Netherlands. Every night a topical theme is discussed, including examples and provocations from the sector and beyond. At Night Shift you can share experiences, find inspiration and meet new (critical) friends.

Inclusive, accessible and open
The team organises the evenings on a voluntary basis. Het Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam offers us a room free of charge. We want to be inclusive, accessible and open, both on stage and behind the scenes. Together with a diverse team of consultants, we put together the program for the new season. We strive for an inclusive speaker policy.
Without our speakers Night Shift would not exist, so we think it’s important to thank them. We give them a meal, a drink and a small gift. Self-employed speakers receive a (modest) speaker’s fee. However, we also want to keep the evenings accessible. That is why we do not sell tickets, but ask for a pay-what-you-can donation.
Night Shift evenings are regularly ‘sold out’ but unfortunately we can't covere our costs with the donations collected on the night. With a one-time donation to this campaign you can help us organise an evening (almost) every month in 2019. With €2000,- all costs would be covered. 
Costs
With €2000,- we can keep the website up and running for a year, organise nine evenings and thank our speakers with a meal, drink, gift and speaker fee (for freelancers). If we achieve our goal of €2000,- we can put together another good, varied program in the coming year and keep the evenings free of charge. 
Subjects
In the past year and a half, we have discussed the following questions: How do we develop an inclusive human resources policy? Who (don’t) feel represented by our collections? Is there a place for humor in the museum? Could things be done differently? What to do in times of crisis? What does a good entrance look like?
