Last year, the Nightingale Trio suffered a significant financial blow due to the loss of funds that were owed to us by a theatre company that is no longer able to compensate us. We're reaching out to you now to help us make up those losses.
What happened:
On September 10th, 2016 we held a CD release show at the Bedlam Theatre in St. Paul, MN to celebrate the completion of our 2nd full-length album, Izvora. After months of hard work, we were immensely excited to share our accomplishment with the community that had supported us for so long. The release party was one our biggest shows yet! Over 200 people came out to see us perform. Joining us in our celebration was an excellent lineup of other artists such as Aida Shahghasemi & Dan Ren, Siama Matusungidi, and Supergrup Zabava.
Unbeknownst to us, however, the Bedlam Theatre was in financial trouble, and they went out of business in November. They collected the ticket sales for our show, but never paid us out (even though we had a contract with them). We love the Bedlam Theatre community and we support them in the challenging process of closing, but we need to recoup those funds.
Our goals:
Taking into account the ticket sales for the event and our time spent in the last few months trying to negotiate the legal details of our contract with the Bedlam, we need to recoup $2,000. If we raise these funds, we'll be able to finish paying out the artists we collaborated with on the album, as well as move forward as an ensemble in creating new music.
What we need from you:
The goal of this fundraiser is to ask friends, family, Nightingale Trio fans, and Balkan music enthusiasts to help us in the recuperation of those lost funds. We are immensely lucky to have a strong community of supporters, and we know that you all are waiting for some new music, too! Once we can get out of the mire from this challenging situation, we'll be able to create more music to share with YOU.

Currently, we paid all of this out of our own pockets, and would have otherwise made up these additional funds through ticket sales at our show. We sold over 200 tickets to the show, and had a contract with the Bedlam Theatre to split the ticket sales income 80% Trio/20% Venue. Unfortunately, the Bedlam Theatre never paid us out for that money earned, even though we had a contract with them.
