Help make our family complete

Hey friends, family and new comers! We have a new goal and some new ways to get there! Our overall goal will be to raise $22,000 for a shared fertility plan for IVF.  What that means is that we will get to try as much as we want and then if it just doesn't work we get most of our monies back to try and adopt a child. How great is that! I know some of my math minded friends are going but guys you only have a goal of $17,000. Well friends we have some savings and we are raising money in different places. One way we are hoping to lighten the load a little is through Race to Parenthood 5K! We are one of their featured couples this year! Woot woot! Nicole's story

Hi! My name is Nicole and I am a special education teacher. I love kids and have always been very good with children. When I was younger I always thought I will have time for kids when I am older and have a husband. When I found the love of my life/best friend, Jon I thought to myself this is the man to have a family with. So I asked him out March 8, 2010 and we have been together ever since.

A year into our marriage we decided it was time to put away the birthcontrol and grow our family. I grew up thinking that getting pregnant would be easy. My mother told me as much, and mothers know everything, right? So I excitedly planned for a new baby. I bought the crib, the car seat you know the essentials because I like to be prepared. Well as the months ticked by and negative pregnancy test after negative test filled our trash bin, I started to think maybe something was wrong. We went to the doctor and after poking and prodding nothing.

It was/is heart breaking. Every month is a roller coaster. Get the ovulation kits out. Plan out your sex life. Anticipate. Wait. Take a pregnancy test. Negative result. Sadness and crying. It was a cycle of hope, anticipation and crushing sadness. After a year and a half and iui after iui, we tried clomid and IUIs. Nothing worked.

We have looked at adoption and IVF all of which are beyond our ability to pay for. Insurance does not cover any of the treatments so we have spent all our money that we had saved and so we need your help. Thank you for reading our story and please donate if you can.

Jon's story

My name is Jon and I am a musician/music teacher.  I recently graduated from VCU with a degree in music performance.  I grew up in Las Vegas in your average middle class home with 2 working parents who taught me good solid family values and have always supported me in my music and education endeavors.  

That being said, I have always wanted a family and thought that when we were ready it would be no problem.  I married my beautiful wife in the Spring of 2011 and we decided that after a year we would start trying to have children.  We thought it would be good to get everything ready so we could provide for our children.  We did everything that we planned but no children came.  We went to a fertility doctor to see what the problem was and got no real solid anwers, just medicines to help make her more fertile but month after month the tests continued to show up negative.

We have tried a few other things as well but our insurance does not cover the next step which is in-vitro which is way out of our affordability.  This is why we are asking for help.  We are grateful for all the help and are very excited for this next step in our life.
