Nicole's Last Chance

Donation protected
Nicole is a well-respected trauma and couples therapist, but her most important role is mom.  Like many Muskoka moms, Nicole has maintained a part-time job in addition to her full time profession in order to make ends meet.  In September 2016, Nicole had two lymph nodes removed that showed two types of lymphoma.  After much analysis both in Canada and the United States, pathologists determined Nicole to have a rare and aggressive form of lymphoma (both type T and type B, non-Hodgkin).  Nicole began an aggressive chemotherapy and continued to work in order to support her daughters.  Since her diagnosis, Nicole has had to reduce her work schedule in her main capacity as a therapist and quit her part time job.  Being self-employed, Nicole does not have benefits...this has caused financial strain and stress. In February 2017 Nicole's cancer went into remission and she returned to work full time. However, in October 2017 it was confirmed that the t-cell lymphoma had returned and has become more aggressive. Nicole's last chance in beating this cancer is to receive high doses of a different type of chemotherapy in preparation for stem cell transplant. In order for Nicole to receive stem cell transplant she must be able to meet Princess Margaret Hospital requirements. The stem cell transplant procedure is done as an out-patient, which means that Nicole must pay for accommodations, 24 hour care, food, and daily transportation to the hospital for the month she needs to stay in Toronto. If Nicole can't provide proof that she is able to meet and pay for these requirements she cannot have stem cell transplant. Stem cell transplant involves killing your immune system and then injecting your stem cells back into your body. It takes your body at least 20 days to accept your stem cell before it begins to grow a new immune system. The whole procedure takes about three months before one is able to return to his/her "norm". Please help Nicole beat this cancer and give her the opportunity to fight it one last time.  Let's help a woman that has helped so many, please donate.  Thank you!!!
