Nicole Mc Dermott

Hi we are fundraising for Nicole Mc Dermott.

Nicole has been battling FND Functional Neurological Disorder for almost five years now.

However Nicole has detoriated this year

Nicole has lost all her independence and quality of life.Nicole needs help with all the daily tasks we take for granted.

Nicole relies on a wheelchair,she has lost her sight,has limited speech,takes numerous seizures,Absents,Tremors and suffers chronic pain on a daily basis.

Nicole and her family continue to seek professional help but due to the obscure nature of the disorder Doctors and Nurses are still learning about FND,therefore help is not widely available.

FND is a problem with the functioning of the nerveous system and how the brain and body send and receive signals.

It is more prevalent that Multiple Sclerosis or Parkisons disease but stigma means people wait years for diagnosis and the proper treatment leading to worsening symptoms and distress for the patient and their families.

Nicole needs to see a specialist in the area of expertise.

Brain and Mind in London specialise in Neurological Neurology,Neuropsychiatry and Interdisciplinary Rehabilition Therapies.

Professor Mark Edwards is a neurologist who specialises in FND and studies how the brain controls movement and how abnormalities of movement occur in people with Neurological illness..

Professor Edwards has agreed to access Nicole in his clinic in London privately.

She will get an Assessment followed by a Rehabilition and Recovery Plan.

We are asking you to help us cover the cost of assessment,rehabilition and recovery plan for Nicole and travel costs and accomadation for Nicole and family members who will be needed to travel with Nicole.

Nicole is a much loved girl,wife of Ciaran Mc Dermott,Daughter of Nicola Mc Daid and Phonsie Mc Dermott.
