On Tuesday November 26, 2019, heaven gained an angel – our dear Nicole Marie Walls. Nicole is remembered by many and will be forgotten by none. Her closest friends remember her as a fiery spirit, someone they could call in their time of need, full of laughter and personality. Her classmates remember her as an enigma, quiet but determined, always willing to give a helping hand when needed. Her family will remember her as a daughter, sister, and aunt – . She made an impact wherever she went, a lover and discoverer of life. Her footsteps left a print with whomever she came in contact with – the memories of her life will linger on through her friends and family as she will forever be missed.
She was a student at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 2009-2013 and graduated with a BA in Molecular and Cellular Biology. She went on to work various healthcare positions while also becoming a mentor for Girls for Science. In 2015, Nicole went on to MEDPREP at SIU Carbondale and graduated in 2017 with her Masters in Biological Sciences. In Fall 2017, she began her lifelong dream of becoming a physician at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. The same year, she took her aspirations even further and completed a long-time goal of becoming a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Her dedication to serving and mentoring others was further demonstrated when she became SNMA Co-President in fall 2018 while also being a leader in the Stop the Bleed program. Nicole was a young driven innovator, unlike any other ever met. A true leader in all aspects and a source of inspiration for all those who met her.
In order to honor the sacred life of our dear friend, we have started this GoFundMe to help support the Walls family as they prepare to say goodbye to their daughter and sister. No cost could ever replace the value and joy Nicole brought into our lives, but we are hoping a small monetary contribution will ease the pain for the family during this difficult time. Thank you for your contribution. May God bless you and the Walls family during this time.
