Nick Curror’s motorcycle crash medical fund

Please see Nick's personal message (below) of gratitude to everyone who has donated.

There is a new target to try and reach new donors. We have had to do this as the first bills have come in and there is still a long way to go. They are eye-wateringly high and your donations are making a very significant difference.

Unfortunately, my Dad had a serious motorbike accident on Saturday. Since then, he has been in intensive care fighting for his life. The impact resulted in 3 broken ribs, a broken pelvis and femur which have since been operated on. More worryingly, blood flow to  his right  kidney  was blocked and this is now non-recoverable. His left kidney is functioning at 10% and consequently his lungs have been affected. His aorta wall has ruptured and he has undergone vascular surgery to correct this. Although things are looking more positive than 48 hours ago, Dad is certainly not out of the woods and has a long road to recovery. His medical insurance in Thailand only covers up to £12,000 and hospital bills have already reached over £40,000 in just 3 days. Any contributions, however small they might be, would be greatly appreciated at this time.

Update and personal message from Nick

Dear friends/colleagues/family

Wow, finding the words to express my gratitude to you for all your support with my recovery are endless. I just cannot find the right words, there so many. A tragic  incident like this can alter your mindset for ever. What I have learned is that there is so much love and kindness in so many beautiful souls out there that it is taken for granted. I am so grateful to be alive and I shall find it hard to complain about anything or anyone as life moves forward

To every single person who has donated towards this go fund page to help with the cover of these astonishingly high medical bills, may I send you love from the deepest part of my heart. Your generosity and thoughtfulness has brought me to tears as we reach our 1st target in under 24 hours.

I am still in ICU, but now awake and able to type. I have another 4/5 weeks of intense physiotherapy ahead of me, but will soon be transferred from Samitivej Srinakarin to the University Hospital in Rama 9 where the daily costs of care will be dramatically reduced.

Unfortunately my school's medical insurance cover only covers up to $15,000 and the current bill today stnds at $64,000 so the extra money is literally saving me from financial ruin.

May I hope that from your screen as you read this, that you may feel my heart, soul, love and thank yous from the deepest part of my heart and soul

I love you all.

Thank you, Thank you

I would like to send an extra special thank you to my daughter Tara. Thanks to her efficiency, extremely well socially networked position, and on top of her demanding job, she has created this funding page which has gone viral. I love you x

To my Mum and Dad, who flew to Bangkok immediately and helped me through this awful time emotionally and physically...... Oscar awards for best parents in all categories should now be implemented and introduced. A clean sweep would be inevitable. I love you both so much x

And to Nui - her behind the scene organisation and quiet efficiency on top of a demanding job is a perfect example of complete loveliness. Thank you I love you x
