Family and friends, we have been hit with the storm of Hurricane Harvey like the tens of thousands of others across Houston and needed help. Like many of us we do not have flood insurance because we lived in a no flood zone. Our home owners insurance did not cover anything.
This has been a trying time for us. We lost our entire bottom floor furniture kitchen cabinets and appliances. But by his grace I know we will over come this. Our story is like many others Sunday August 27th we saw the water rising I was persistent that we were going to be okay I even cooked dinner for my family. But with a blink of an eye our garage was full of water the water was half way up on the tires. We went upstairs packed a bag and the next thing we knew the house was flooded. I called my team at work and they had someone in an air boat pick us up. We ended up in a church / shelter for a bit.
We were blessed to have some one in a huge truck come get us with pouring rain and flooding everywhere. My son Noah (who suffers with Sickle Cell Anemia) was scared, we as adults were fearful as well. It was a trying time but we have faith. We ended up in a hotel for about three days. We were unable to get to our homes because it was still flooded. When we finally had the opportunity to see the home, we lost our cars and the entire bottom floor. Possessions we had living in Texas for the past 10 years are gone with no means to rebuild and FEMA does not sound promising to help.
We are asking for help if anyone can donate to help knowing that funds will go direct to us through this page instead of an organization or charity that gives to their administration and not the people.
With the grace of God we will endure this.
