College Tuition Support

My name is Nickolas Carroll. I am a senior at Evanston Township High School located in Evanston Illinois. I am part of a single income family, as my dad is not in my life. I live with just my mom, and I have no siblings. I am planning to attend the University of Missouri in the fall, but I do not posses the funds to attend.
When my father found out that my mom was pregnant with me, he kicked her out. Her father was generous enough to buy her an apartment that she and I could live in. Immediately when I was born, a custody battle ensued. My mom was awarded full custody of me since my dad was deemed not fit to be a parent due to his abusive tendencies, and alcholism. Throughout my life, my mom has been taken to court for countless reasons such as my dad not wanting to pay child support anymore. All of the court battles that he forced her to go through caused her to lose most of the money that she had, since going to court meant taking off work, paying for lawyers, and the hearings themselves cost a ton of money. She had to start working three jobs- working as a Hostess, a Travel agent, and a Hotel Customer Service Representative. This taught me how to be independent and showed me the importance of working at a young age.

Throughout my high school experience, I have taken every opportunity offered to me. Since Freshman year, I have taken a full course load of classes, challenged myself by taking as many honors and AP classes that I could, and got involved in extracurriculars such as the Graphics club, the Photography club, Cross country, Ultimate Frisbee, and more. This year, I started taking AP Psychology. Instantly I realized that Psychology might be something I really want to pursue.

My plan- to go to Mizzou, Major in Psychology, and learn as much as I can while attending- has become out of reach for me financially. I've been applying for as many scholarships as possible, and have been working two jobs in an attempt to raise money for my education. Although these things are helpful, it is not enough to put me through school. I searched the internet, talked to my college counselor, and searched for advice from others in the same situation, to learn what I could. From that, I concluded that fundraising would be a good way to try and raise money so that I can further my education. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and if you donate, I am incredibly grateful.
