Fundraiser for Nichole Whittington

Donation protected
My name is Danielle and I am starting this GoFundMe campaign for my amazing sister-in-law Nichole who is fighting for her life.

No one expects to hear the word cancer after a routine check up. In early December after an abnormal pap smear result and a biopsy Nichole was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma which is a glandular cancer. This form of cancer can attack multiple places in the body because it creates skip tumors, which means when one tumor is cut out and scans show clean margins, more tumors can still be elsewhere. Nichole has already undergone two surgeries, which were unsuccessful in cutting out all the cancerous cells. Her latest PET scan results showed that the cancer has spread to her lymph nodes and further surgery and treatment is required. Nichole is only 30 years old.

Coping with a cancer diagnosis isn’t easy, especially being a single mother. There is so much to juggle as you learn about the disease, discuss treatment options, and create a plan with your physicians and support network for the future. Nichole has a beautiful 8 year old daughter who brings her joy and strength through the hardest times. In January 2016 Nichole began her journey as a foster mother with a goal of helping as many children as she could and eventually adopting a child. Since then she has welcomed a teenage son who she recently gained legal guardianship of after fostering for 2 years. She is also in the process of adopting his energetic, sweet 3 year old brother. She is currently caring for two other foster children as well. She loves her full, chaotic home and opens her doors and her heart to so many children in need. In just two years she has cared for six foster children. To say that Nichole has a big heart would be an understatement. For those who know her, you know that she is an extraordinary human being. She is loving, unbelievably strong and can put a smile on anyone’s face. She always puts her friends and family before herself. She has an extremely close bond with her family and is Titi Cole to my two boys and the bond she has with them is unbreakable.

Up to this point she has continued working a full time job in addition to caring for her five children as a single mother. Despite this and being insured, she is struggling to pay the medical bills that are piling up.  On top of her health, her kids, her job and everything else she is trying to figure out how to pay for her next surgery on Friday, February 2nd. She has met her deductible for her next surgery on the 2nd, but will need to pay 20% of the whole surgery, which is estimated to be $1,400. Just one visit to the specialized oncologist cost her $793. She also has to pay $2,500 for the PET scan and will need another in a few months, $870 from her previous surgery and $2,700 after a complication from her second surgery landed her in the emergency room with uncontrollable bleeding.

Nichole is one of the strongest, most selfless people I have ever known and is always there to give her love and support or the shirt off her back to anyone that needs it, even if it means leaving her with nothing. Nichole is a proud, independent woman and wouldn’t be asking for help unless it was her last resort. This is one battle she can not and should not have to fight alone. She has given so much time and love freely to others and at this dire moment in her life she deserves love and support sent back her way. Anything you can donate will be truly be appreciated by Nichole and her children. I know that getting rid of this cancer and investing in her health is a worthwhile cause. If you are able, I ask that you consider sharing a little of your change to relieve some of the burden from my dear sister. If you aren’t able to support her with a contribution, she would be the first to tell you that she would appreciate any prayers, positive vibes, and love sent in her direction. Everything we can do to help and surround her and her beautiful babies with love is what is most important so she can focus on staying strong for her kids as well as her family and herself.  The last thing we want is for Nichole to be stressed out worrying about her children and their well being now and in their future.

Please spread the word and share with friends and family! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading and for your love and support. Anything helps, even if it's just a prayer and a share.

One last thing...Please tell your wives, girlfriends, sisters, mother, daughters and friends to get their pap smears regularly. It is so important! Cancer doesn’t discriminate between the young and old.
