Nicholas Lombardi is a smiling 3 year old baby boy residing in the neighborhood of New Dorp in Staten Island, New York. Nicholas was born with his heart on the right side of his chest and has complex congenital heart disease with many other life threatening defects. With multiple surgeries planned for Nicholas since 2015, he is now getting ready for his 4th open heart surgery, We are raising funds for Nicholas and his family.
Early in her pregnancy, Christina Lombardi was told there might be complications with her child at birth, so much so that Christina was advised by a doctor to terminate the pregnancy. Realizing in her heart that this child needed a fighting chance, Christina and her husband, Robert, made the firm decision to continue with the pregnancy. Nicholas Lombardi was born on December 23, 2014, weighing 6lbs. 2oz.
Nicholas has complex congenital heart disease, including Heterotaxy and Dextrocardia, where his heart is positioned on the right side of his chest. His atrioventricular connections are discordant and the ventriculoarterial connections are discordant with pulmonary atresia. Nicholas has a large inlet to outlet ventricular septal defect and discontinuous pulmonary arteries. He also has bilateral patent ductus arteriosus and a right aortic arch.
