Thirsty Soul Beekeeping Project

Give and it will be given to you.  Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap.  Luke 6:38

Our family of 13, will be moving to rural Jinotega, Nicaragua, in September of 2016.  We are in the process of selling our belongings and home.

Thirsty Soul’s mission (starting with thirteen Dunhams) is to serve the poorest of the poor in a widely forgotten part of the world.  The majority of the people in the area earn less than $1/day and have very little schooling or education.  Many live under tarps held up by sticks.  Children are prostituted for food and play in the dumps.  Human trafficking is on the rise.  Our goal is to come along side local churches and help free families from poverty through initiatives that support education, facilitate job creation, foster health, and cultivate changed lives.

We feel called to start up a Christian Bee School to help the poor and disabled to earn an income, to build relationships with the Nicaraguans.  You don’t need to know how to read or write to be a beekeeper; it just takes someone willing to learn.  We will teach people how to manage a hive, then provide a hive valued at $150. They will harvest and sell honey, then pay back the $150 loan, so that another trained person can be blessed with a startup hive.  We will also teach people, who cannot work with bees, how to build and sell bee equipment, or make natural products from the hives.  The beauty is that any donation is a gift that keeps on giving to people in need.

What a great combination!  Sharing about Jesus, saving the bees and helping the poor and disabled climb out of poverty.

We would love for you to prayerfully consider financially partnering with Thirsty Soul. We know that God will reveal the call to enough people to fund the school and more. He always amazes us. If you feel led to give, we would love to hear from you.

Together, we can both be a small part of what God is doing to uplift the community in Jinotega, Nicaragua.  God has blessed us with so much in the United States.  We challenge you to give to the forgotten people of the world and see what amazing blessings the Lord gives back.  If one life is changed, the future is changed.  Thank you in advance for giving to the Lord and His work in Nicaragua.
