NHS KIDS - WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT !
Care for Kids wanted to support the children of NHS front-line workers. We wanted to thank those children whose parents and loved ones have and are currently caring for those affected by Covid 19. Many of our NHS heroes are working long hours, days off and extra shifts to combat the pandemic. A number of children of the vocational and dedicated front line workers are not seeing there parents and loved ones for long periods of time.
There is a fear from many of the children that their mum or dad or even both could become sick or eve worse by just doing their job. Many of the children are scared by what they see and hear via social media and the news agencies.
Through a low key appeal via Facebook through the charitable organisation Care for Kids and funding previously raised at The Castle Pub/Hotel in Blackpool(Stonegate Pub Company) I asked for support so that we could purchase bespoke 'Thank You' cards for NHS workers to say thank you to their child or children. The card is placed inside a goody bag which contains a selection of chocolate and snacks. This is just a small way to express appreciation to the children for their parents being away from home for long periods of time.
I have now delivered 1200 bags and cards to hospitals and the 'feed back' from the NHS workers has been fantastic and humbling.
I would like to extend this to other hospitals across the UK. We believe that this support has a two fold effect, the giving and receiving empowers well-being and appreciation for both the NHS front line worker and their child in terms of mental health and well being. As a volunteer I have measured how this small gesture has made such a big difference to both adults and children alike.
With you donation and support I can cascade this positive gesture to other hospitals.
Thank you so much for taking time to read this story
