My daughter Megan was diagnosed with POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) in 2010. Since then she has been through a long journey with her health. POTS is a blood pressure disorder where gravity plays a part. The blood in your body pools into your lower extremities. Making your heart pump twice as hard to bring the blood back up to the brain. Some of the symptoms with this rare condition include Severe Fatigue, Brain Fog, Weight loss, Rapid Heart Rate, Difficulty Standing, Light headedness/Fainting, Chest Pain, and many more.
Megan was also diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. A group of inherited disorders that affects connective tissue, joints, skin, and blood vessel walls. She has to have surgeries to fix the joints that have been affected by this disorder. Some of the symptoms that go along with this is, Overly Flexibale Joints (tearing muscles), Velvety Skin (do not heal properly and often have to get stitches for minor cuts), Vascular Problems, Chest pain, and many more.
Meg is now under the care of a specialist at Nationwide Childrens Hospital located in Columbus,OH. She is presently undergoing testing. Her first test revealed she is able to stand for 10 minutes before becoming nauseous and collpasing/convulsing from a very high/dangerous heart rate. Megan's doctor has started her on new medications, and physical therapy in attempt to strengthen her and improve her quality of life.
Megan is also under the care of a Orthorpedic doctor at UTMC in Toledo, Oh. She has undergone two surgeries (elbow and knee) and is scheduled for a third surgery this month. Another surgery for the opposite knee (again) is scheduled for a later date this month.
The donations will go toward the time off work and Medical expenses (bills, equiptment,travel).
