Compton Vegan Brick & Mortar
In 2017, Compton Vegan was founded by self taught chef Lemel Durrah to provide a healthier alternative to the readily available , cheap, convenient and unhealthy fast foods that have long term effects on inner cities across America. Chef Durrah created a mobile delivery service out of his apartment kitchen that was ran through an Instagram business page where he would post plant based foods that would be available for purchase for evening delivery.
In 2018, Compton Vegan went on a North American Food Tour making stops in Houston, Texas, Portland, Oregon, Chicago, Illinois, New York, New York & Toronto, Canada. That year Durrah realized that there is a need for Compton Vegan in cities across the world.
In 2019, Compton Vegan opened Compton Vegan Express a ghost kitchen inside of a futuristic concept where 25 restaurants were housed under the same roof with personalized & individual kitchen spaces. The blueprint for running a successful restaurant has been built out of this kitchen. Being open for dine in/take out and delivery on various 3rd party apps.
In 2020, Compton Vegan like so many other restaurants has been affected by the global pandemic that is COVID-19. As a company we have applied for over $300,000 in grants, unfortunately we were not approved for much assistance. Times have definitely been tough for us as a company but we continue to push through these difficult times.
At this time we are putting pride aside and asking our followers & supporters for help. Whatever you can donate would be greatly appreciated. The goal is to raise enough money to have hard capital as we continue to operate our Compton Vegan Express location, add a location in the city of Compton and fabricate our Food Truck.
