Support for Averi: Severe Aplastic Anemia

Averi is 12 years old and is suddenly facing a serious medical condition called Aplastic Anemia. She is a bright young kid who loves to dance, spend time with friends and her new baby sisters, Allaina (Matt's daughter) and Anica (Jerica's daughter). Recently, she was fighting what seemed to be some sort of virus, but slowly started to drain her more and more and we weren’t seeing improvement. Tired of waiting for the doctors to see her, her mother, Jerica, took her straight to Vernon Jubilee hospital only to be told she might have cancer or something else life threatening.
From that moment, Averi’s life would be forever changed. Her father, Matthew, rushed to Vernon and once there the medical team advised her parents that she would need to be airlifted immediately to BC children’s hospital in Vancouver to begin tests and biopsy’s.

After many long nights and stressful days, she was finally diagnosed with a rare condition called Aplastic Anemia.

This diagnosis is very serious as Aplastic Anemia is a disease in which the body fails to produce blood cells in sufficient numbers. Blood cells are produced in the bone marrow by stem cells that reside there. Aplastic Anemia causes a deficiency of all blood cell types: red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. This disease is very rare and the cause of unknown.

Her parents Matthew, Brittany, Jerica and Tyler are waiting to hear treatment options, but are expecting Averi to be in hospital for at least 1-6 months, if not longer. Due to many forms of procedures, this process will be exhausting and time consuming, not to mention, extremely stressful in the wake of a worldwide pandemic where only two of her parents are able to visit her.

Because the family will be affected by being out of home while they move back and forth between Kelowna and Vancouver we are asking for any support while they deal with Averi’s medical issues. One of Averi's sisters, Allaina, is under a year and uprooting her has been difficult, stressful and time consuming considering how much equipment and necessities you need for a baby alone. Of course each of our families will do our upmost to help, but a little extra assistance would be very much appreciated.

The funds will also go towards accommodations, as well as fuel and food costs during their stay. Also, it will help cover costs of future medications and treatment once she returns home. This was obviously unexpected and will put a huge financial strain on her family.

Averi is a strong little girl with a bright future and is coping with the news like a champ, but we know this will be a very long road to recovery and will pave a new life for her. We love her so much and continue to pray for her recovery and for her to stay strong during these stressful times.

We thank you for any support that can be given. All prayers are accepted.

Also to add, even though we are one family for Averi, there are two households to run so there will be a separate link for Averi's mom and her family. Please see below for their link! ♡
Thank you again.
