As many of you know we are the Next Generation Movement - we aim at empowering young people to ensure the fight against inequality and racial injustice continues.
Next-Gen Movement is a millennial-driven movement as a result of the Nottingham Black Lives Matter protest. The movement has the aim to improve equality locally by focusing on our values which we refer to as the 4 E's - Employment, Engagement, Education and Empowerment.
Since the protest, we have worked hard to understand our vision and projects that will benefit the community. Our first area of focus is to implement workshops that are open to those aged 8-18 and will focus on providing the youth with skills to not only work towards their career but give them a positive focus at a young age. The workshops will vary and cover each E. We will provide skills in areas such as video editing, DJ'ing and social media marketing as well as holding empowering workshops such as seminars with life coaches and teaching young girls who are of black descent to embrace their natural hair. We understand the youth of today has interests in a variety of areas and want to open these up to more than just sports workshops and give them something to drive forward as either a career or just a hobby.
As we develop our organisation and learn more each day we understand resources are a key part of our success on these projects so we ask for your help. To hold these workshops we need funding for venues, speakers/trainers and refreshments. We want to ensure anyone who attends gets the most out of each workshop so high quality is key. The support you have given us since the protest has been overwhelming and only made us more passionate to work towards permanent change in our community. This area is one of many and every day we have new ideas to tackle systemic racism, lack of knowledge and unemployment. Our end goal is unity.
Again, this is a small fraction of projects we have on implementing real change. Whatever you are able to donate will mean the world to us and we hope you will be a part of this big change to come. It's a movement, not a moment.
