This is Carmelita and her 3 boys, she is a close friend of mine. She has spent the last few years taking care of her sick grandmother full-time 4 days a week, and the other 3 days working as a nurse at night to support her 3 boys. She continues this care for her grandfather.
Her grandmother passed away last fall and Carmelita ended up hospitalized and sick for 6 weeks. Her job had changed over from having sick leave to short term disability. The disability insurance only paid for 1.5 weeks of the 6 weeks she was off. She was able to go back to work in December, and was so happy to be back working.
Last week, she was called in for a meeting with her boss, the director, and the head of human resources to find out that they were eliminating the LPN positions at her hospital-effective immediately. Now, while trying to recover from that blow, her car has broken down and she has no transportation, nor the money to fix it. I'm looking to get enough money to help her either repair her car or replace it.
She is feeling pretty low right now, I'm hoping to help ease a bit of her worry. I know, being the awesome nurse she is, that she will find a job soon. But, she needs to be able to go to job interviews , and one less thing to worry about. If you can, please help, every dollar is a blessing. Thank you!
