<div>Hi, ich bin Vanessa und studiere Pflanzlichen Gartenbau an der FH Erfurt. Mit dem Studium versuche ich meinen Traum, die Leidenschaft zum Beruf zu machen, zu verwirklichen – und bereits jetzt bieten sich mir großartige Möglichkeiten.
</div>
<div>Im kommenden Sommer startet mein Praxissemester. Ich habe die einmalige Chance, 13 Wochen lang im Botanischen Garten auf der Insel Lokrum (nahe Dubrovnik) zu arbeiten – eine Insel, die komplett unter Naturschutz steht. Für mich als naturbegeisterte Pflanzenliebhaberin ist das ein absoluter Traum.

<div>Diese Gelegenheit bietet nicht nur fachliche Weiterbildung, sondern auch persönliche Entwicklung – sprachlich, kulturell und menschlich.
</div>
<div>Allerdings habe ich, wie fast jeder Student wenig finanzielle Ressourcen. Ich lebe derzeit von meinem Kindergeld und meinem Nebenjob. Die Pendelzeit von 3–4 Stunden (5x die Woche), macht es schwer viel zu arbeiten neben dem Studium und ich gebe mein Bestes. Das Kindergeld fällt nächstes Jahr weg und zusätzliche Kosten wie die Krankenkasse kommen hinzu.

<div>Die Unterkunft in Dubrovnik kostet zwischen 600–1000 € im Monat – das sind bereits die günstigsten Optionen. Das Studentenwohnheim ist bereits voll belegt mit Warteliste. Die Universität, zu der der Garten gehört, kann mir leider keine Unterkunft oder Bezahlung anbieten, aber ich darf dort von erfahrenen Botaniker*innen und Gärtner*innen lernen – in einer einzigartigen Umgebung.

<div>Ich werde auch Förderung beantragen, dies habe ich bereits versucht aber wegen der  Bürokratie ist das frühestens Ende des Jahres möglich und die Mietpreise steigen in die höhe umso näher ich dem Praktikum komme. Ohne Geld kann ich aktuell nichts buchen, und es ist absehbar, dass die Förderung die Kosten nicht abdecken wird.

<div>Jeder Euro ist ein Euro näher am Ziel und ich freue mich auch über die kleinste Unterstützung.  
</div>

<div>Hi, my name is Vanessa and I’m working hard to turn a dream into reality: making my passion for plants my profession.
</div>
<div>I’m currently studying Horticulture in Erfurt, Germany, and through my studies, I’ve taken the first steps toward building a future around something I truly love.
</div>
<div>Next summer, I have the incredible opportunity to complete a 13-week internship at a botanical garden located on Lokrum Island – a nature reserve right off the coast of Dubrovnik. For any plant enthusiast and nature lover, this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
</div>
<div>This internship offers so much more than just academic growth. It’s a chance to grow personally – to gain hands-on experience, improve my language skills, and immerse myself in a unique environment.
</div>
<div>Unfortunately, like many students, I face financial challenges. At the moment, I rely solely on child support payments and occasional income from a part-time job. I commute 3–4 hours per day, five days a week, which makes it hard to work a lot while studying on the other hand. Next year, the child support will end, and I’ll also need to pay for health insurance every month.
</div>
<div>Accommodation near Lokrum/Dubrovnik ranges from €600 to €1,000 per month – and these are the most affordable options. The university apartments are already fully booked with long waiting lists. The botanical garden is part of the local university, but unfortunately, they can’t provide housing or financial support. However, they offer a priceless opportunity to learn from experienced botanists and gardeners in a truly inspiring setting.

<div>I’ve already applied for financial support, but due to bureaucratic delays, I won't receive a decision before the end of the year – and prices keep rising the closer we get to the internship. Without some financial support, I can’t commit to housing or travel arrangements, and the funding will not cover the costs.
</div>
<div>Every euro brings me one step closer to this dream, and I truly appreciate even the smallest contribution. If you're not able to donate, simply sharing my story already helps a lot.
