Single Mom Needs a Car

Meet Mona and Danny.  They desperately need a car.  When Danny was just a year old, he and his mom escaped an unbelievable situation and found refuge in a shelter for battered women.  His mom is from Romania.  She has bravely fought for divorce - even though her legal status was tied to his father's green card - successfully navigated the immigration system to stay in the country legally with her son, and has created a home of their own.  She rides the bus one and half hours each way to get him to a good school outside their home district, cleans houses nearby then picks him up after school.  Together, they wait at the bus stop for the one and a half hour bus ride home.  Sometimes, they leave the house before 6pm and don't get home until after 6pm.  They've been doing this for 2 years!  Being a single mom is exhausting work.  Cleaning houses is exhausting work.  A 3 hour commute is exhausting work.  The combination would be overwhelming to some,  but Danny and his mom do it with a happy heart because they are so grateful to be safe and together.  My mom has "adopted them" about 5 years ago and now they are a part of the family.  We need your help to get them a car so that Mona can spend more time working to support her family and less time commuting.  That extra two hours per day of work could make a HUGE difference in Danny's life.  With $5,000 we can get a reliable car (2003 Honda with 100K miles or similar), something they could only dream about now.  Thank you so, so much for helping this wonderful family!
