Tamara’s Surgery

First and foremost thank you all for clicking on this link. It is very difficult for me to ask for help but something as near and dear to me as a family member I’ve learned to let my angels work.

So what do I need your help with?

Some of you may or may not know that a few years ago my mother was diagnosed with lumbar canal stenosis.  A disease that, if not treated properly, can cause paralysis and even in some cases death. Although spinal stenosis is not uncommon for men & women over the age of 65, my mothers particular condition is more severe.

What is lumbar canal stenosis?

Lumbar spinal stenosis is a narrowing of the spinal canal, compressing the nerves traveling through the lower back into the legs. While it may affect younger patients, due to developmental causes, it is more often a degenerative condition that affects people who are typically age 60 and older. Within the last year my mother has been experiencing excruciating pain, inability to walk, and several failed treatments .

There is no real cure for spinal stenosis, however if not properly treated or no surgery takes place, she could be facing some harrowing life threatening symptoms.

What is the goal?

My goal is to exhaust every option possible so she can be relieved of this pain and return to somewhat normal activity. We’ve tried pain medications, back belts, physical therapy, chiropractors, and literally everything to avoid surgery. Now, we are here. And surgery is the only option.

Because of the medications she’s been taking over the years, the side effects have worn down several of her organs therefore not allowing for us to receive full coverage insurance.

Our only financial option is YOU! If you find it in your heart to donate $5, 10, 100 or 1k. We’d greatly appreciate it.

What will surgery do?

Decompressive laminectomy is the most common type of surgery to treat lumbar spinal stenosis. This surgery is done to relieve pressure on the spinal nerve roots. It removes bone (parts of the vertebrae), thickened tissue, or both to keep them from narrowing the spinal canal and squeezing or irritating the spinal nerves.

In some cases, spinal fusion may be done at the same time to help keep the spine stable.

What is the reason for $20k?

1. Rountrip flight from Ghana
2. Pre-op expenses
3. Cost of surgery ($12-13k)
4. Post-op expenses and recovery
5. Physical therapy
6. Rent for Living space during recovery (at least 3 months)
7. Medications

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Anything helps. I just want to relieve her from this pain and not stress about expenses. This same disease took my grandmother’s life and could have been prevented if the necessary actions were taken. My mother means the world to me, and now it’s time for US to make the necessary actions so she can enjoy the rest of her life.

The faster I can get expenses covered the faster we can treat this condition.

I truly thank you all in advance for your prayers and donations.
