NFC Red 02 to Regionals

Hello! Meet NFC Red 02! We are a recently promoted premier level team (from Division 1) in the state of Nebraska. Our team has had much success this year! We won the Nebraska League for the U16 age group making it to the State tournament as the only Division 1 level team. We also won our tournament in Overland Park, Kansas [photo]. The team has compiled an impressive 12-4-3 record, with two of those losses against #1 rated teams in each of their respective states at the premier level.
As a result of our success, the team has been honored with an invitation from Nebraska State Soccer to represent the state in the President’s Cup in West Chester, Ohio this summer. This tournament brings together the top 16 Division 1 teams from 16 states that represent the Midwest Region during mid-June. The winner of this tournament will represent Region 2 at the National tournament in Indiana in July, which is composed of the four winners from each region. This is an opportunity for these boys to experience a truly competitive environment and an atmosphere like no other.
Unfortunately, traveling to such a tournament has its fair share of monetary challenges. Six of our 15 players are on scholarship through the club. Without those scholarships, these six boys would never have been able to play with our club team in the first place. The team includes several refugee kids coming from countries that include Burma, Thailand, and Nepal. Without the raising of funds, this great opportunity of playing in the President's Cup will unfortunately not be experienced for these boys.
This is a chance for the boys to 1) experience an incredible atmosphere while representing the state of Nebraska and 2) an opportunity to develop them into soccer players who conduct themselves with integrity on and off the field [win or lose]. This future generation of soccer players and more importantly community members will have a chance to understand that they are representing much more than themselves, their team, and their club.
Thus, we hope to raise the funds required to travel to and from Ohio and the lodging required for a tournament that spans the course of four days. Our target goal is $3,000. Without support, this team will have to pass on this honorable opportunity. These boys demonstrate a good work ethic, drive, and determination each and every day, and they deserve to be at the President's Cup representing the State of Nebraska .
