New Roof in PR (Hurricane Maria)

Donation protected
When Hurricane Maria hit the island of Puerto Rico, it not only destroyed trees, crops, roads, bridges and the infrastructure.  The storm devastated people's lives.  Imagine losing your home, your job and for many their lives; little to NO food, NO drinking water, NO electricity or gas.  The basic needs food, water and shelter completely gone overnight. How do you recover from such a tragedy?  The recovery will take years and the hurricane season is not over....... Tropical rain storms, mudslides and road debris add onto the already tragic situation. Living on the mainland, we worried and panicked when we did not hear from our family members 7 days after the storm.  The roads and bridges were destroyed and kept help from reaching our mountain town of Barranquitas in the center of the island.  When we finally heard through family friends, we were told "everyone was alive".  They were living day to day helping each other and their neighbors deal with their situation.  Unfortunately, my cousin, Maria lost the roof of her home.  As a single working mother, she'd been building her cement home little at a time adding a temporary wood roof to get her family in the house before it was finished.  What took years to build was destroyed in a matter of hours by Hurricane Maria.  Maria and her kids are now living in one room of her house with a tarp over the room. Please help us help them rebuild their lives again. Our family is asking you for your assistance in helping us raise $6,000 to build a cement roof to get Maria and her family back into their home before the cold weather arrives in the mountains where she lives. Every dollar counts towards helping someone directly to rebuild their home after such a devastating natural disaster.   The Ortiz and Velasquez Families appreciate anything you can assist us with and THANK YOU for your donation. May God Bless You and Your Families!! Note: Since her home was under construction it does not qualify for FEMA assistance.
