New Orleans Mission 2014

Donation protected
New Orleans is a city plagued by disasters, homelessness, crime and recession. But, over the course of 4 separate trips, involving over 100 students and 24 adults, we have worked with 9 different families, on their houses and yards, brin

ging them hope and Good News! They are not forgotten.

At Ms. Patti's house, Hurricane Katrina tore the siding off their house and destroyed two walls. Her little girl, Amelie, lived in a room where the plaster was crumbling off in chunks, exposing the weathered, old wall underneath.

************
Mr. and Mrs. Aldridge were flooded with 4 feet of water. 3 separate contractors quoted them prices, took a deposit and never finished the work. Mr. Aldridge was then in a severe car accident and bed-ridden indefinitely.

************
Mrs. Boyd prays daily for her eldest son who is in state prison. Her family doesn't have the ability to deal with the moisture leaking into her walls and windows causing damage to her carpets, furniture and appliances.

*************
We have so many stories like these. Some heartbreaking but all with a great ending that came about because of support like yours!

Each trip costs us between $40,000 and $60,000 for travel, accommodations, meals and building supplies.

The students collectively raise 100% of the funds through personal contributions, bottle drives, dinners and auctions, selling cookie dough and corporate sponsorship, to name a few.

This year, we're taking to the internet and using the power of social media to raise the necessary money for our supplies.

Our bill for materials is typically around $4000-$5000.

Please give generously to help us help the families of New Orleans in February of 2014.

Oh, by the way....we don't want to leave you hanging!

Ms. Patti's house got a thorough drywalling and repainting, complete with a bedroom renovation for Amelie.

Mr. and Mrs. Aldridge got a new bathroom with handicap access. The leaks in their roof were patched. Their kitchen was cleaned, yard landscaped, fence repainted and ceiling repaired - in just 4 days.

Mrs. Boyd had her windows sealed, her front porched repaired and repainted, her kitchen gutted and painted and her grandsons bedroom cleaned and given a fresh coat of paint.

All contributions are tax deductible in Canada through Oblate Youth Ministries.
