Newborn Joy and Loki's Vet Emergency
Donation protected
Hello, my name is John. Friday night 1/10/25, my girlfriend and I brought home our newborn son, Axil. We have two dogs, Loki and Bella. We have never been well off; our life is paycheck to paycheck, so as most people I'm sure would understand, having a baby, while a huge blessing, is also a huge battle we now have financially. While it was intimidating, we were ready to do whatever necessary for our son.
Early Friday morning before coming home from the hospital, I came home to take care of the dogs. While I was walking them outside, my boy Loki got into it with a squirrel and got a bite on his face (the squirrel was okay and got away, thankfully).
This was very strange to me as he has never done anything like this before. I didn't think much of it at the time; he just had some cuts on his face. I also had to hurry back to the hospital to take my now family home. Tonight, 1/11/25, a large lump appeared on his nose, he had very little energy, and his entire body was shaking. This terrified me deeply, so I had to leave my still healing girlfriend and newborn at home to take him to the emergency 24hr vet where I quickly ended up bawling. What I thought was going to be some quick antibiotics turned into a heap of possible problems and had me at the vet crying for hours. He is my sweet boy; he cuddles me every night for bed under my blanket and is a dearly loved member of our family.
As I write this, it is 2:03 am, and I am waiting for my hourly updates and pictures of him from the vet, hoping the next update says I can come and get him while my girlfriend and son sleep upstairs. The vet bill was staggering and for my little family a huge debt that could still get bigger depending on his results. I know the goal says $800, thats to encourage people to help if its not to big i guess. His bill was actually almost $1900. But we will take any amount of debt for our family. I figured it is worth a shot and a prayer that some kind and compassionate people out in the world may lend a hand in helping my family. I honestly don't expect much, but if I'm wrong, I would be eternally grateful. All funds raised will go to Loki's vet bill! Thank you for reading my story, God bless.
I also would like to ask anyone to please share this far and wide anyway and anywhere you can. Thank you all so much!
