New Seasons Youth Program (NSYP) seeks financial donations toward the creation of academic opportunities for college-bound scholars from Africa and Caribbean. Through the work of NSYP these scholars are able to attend college in the United States of America.
Every dime of the money is used to assist students with airfare, school fees, dorm room items, clothing, technology and health insurance.
Our organizational mission is to “make a difference in the lives of fellow human beings by eliminating the social causes of poverty by promoting tertiary education to disadvantage and financially challenged youth & young adults in Africa, the Caribbean and young people world-wide.” (Visit www.newseasonsyouthprogram.com).

The United Nations on Youth and Education 2015 Report noted that, “Education is important in eradicating poverty and hunger and in promoting sustained, inclusive and equitable economic growth and sustainable development. Increased efforts towards education accessibility, quality and affordability are central to global development efforts”.In an attempt to eradicate poverty and all of the other ill’s that come along with it, we are increasing our efforts to offer accessibility, quality and affordability to young people who desire to obtain a college education in the U.S.A but lack financial resources." NYSP seeks to live out the aspects of this report by being integral to providing educational access.

Why Africa and The Caribbean?
Africa is the world’s most youthful continent. Today, nearly 50 percent of Africans are under age 15. Africa’s young people are our future leaders and will be the driving force behind sustainable growth across the continent. Investment in education and training is essential in building an educated and skilled workforce and to encourage innovation. Today, only 6 percent of young people in sub-Saharan Africa (where most of our NSYP students come from) are enrolled in higher education institutions compared to the global average of 26 percent.
The cost of attending a university in Sub Saharan Africa varies by school and program, but averages about $3,000 a year. By American standards this is a low cost for education, however About three quarters of the African population live of less than $2 per day with half of the population on less than $1.25 per day. People in rural areas are more often struck by poverty. To sum it all up, The average annual income in Sub-Saharan Africa is US-Dollar ($2,041).
The islands of the Caribbean have a gross national income per capita of $21,280, according to the World Bank 2014 World Development Report. This varies from Country to Country with Haiti having a per capita income of $1,300 and Jamaica $9,000. The average cost of a college education in the Caribbean is about $5,000. Affordability is the largest barrier confronting most Caribbean students from entering college. Therefore programs such as ours provide hope to those who have no hope. The facts above cannot be denied. The need for a College education is key in order to provide a way of escape out of poverty and a better life for our students, their family’s and Country.
Did you know that among the top 25 Countries sending students to the United States only one African nation breaks into the rankings. Nigeria currently has roughly 10,000 students studying in the USA as compared to China who sends close to 330,000 students and India with 165,000 students currently attending Institutions in the USA. This large disparity is based upon Asian as well as European students having the means to pay for their education while African youth and Caribbean youth struggle just to pay basic SAT FEES and for application fees in order to be considered for admissions into an American College. If students are able to pay these fee’s the worry of paying for airfare, and the daily living expenses associated with life in America become a large barrier and/or deterrent.

New Seasons Youth Program Accomplishments 2010-Present
Secured over $1.5 Million Dollars in Full-Ride Scholarships To Various Historical Black Colleges and Universities through-out the United States.
Assisted 25 Students from Africa & The Caribbean realize their dream of a college education.
Inducted our first Caribbean Student into the program (2017).
2017 will bring our total graduates to 12 New Seasons Youth Program Participants graduating on time and with honors (4 Valedictorians & 1 Salutatorian)
Our students have a combined GPA of 3.96
Currently New Seasons Youth Program alumni (both women in the STEM field) are attending The University of Missouri and Harvard University on full-ride scholarships (assistantships) to obtain their Master/Ph’D.
Provided host family’s for each New Seasons Youth Program Participants.

WHY NOT JOIN THE TEAM!
Additionally New Seasons Youth Program is launching a new project called Team 316 which will be a method to gain the financial support needed on an ongoing basis. It’s a simple strategy to recruit as many Team Members as we can by committing to give just $3.16 a week for one year. With a team effort, the results are amazing. Fifty (50) Team Members contributing will yield $8,000; 100 will yield $16,000; and 150 Team Members will yield $24,000.
We would like everyone to prayerfully consider being on the team. Our goal is 150 Team Members, which would eliminate the need for any other fundraisers. New Seasons Youth Program will use the funds to provide the help with all the expenses necessary and associated with the students coming to America and attending college.
I sincerely hope that you will consider becoming a member of our Team 316. If you have any questions concerning Team 316, please do not hesitate to contact me. Pledges will begin January 2018. You may choose to give it all at once, or give on a weekly or monthly basis; or, you may even give above the suggested amount.
