Hi
My name is Gracie-Mae. I have been riding with New Range Riding School for 6 years.
New range riding school is a school with a difference. All the horses here have a home for life no matter what.
Paula started, New range in 1983 and has rescued approximately 100 horses and currently has 28 in her care. This year is New Ranges 40th anniversary.
This is Tinkerbell. She is 9 years old and is a Welsh Section A Pony. She is 11.2 hands tall.
Tinkerbell was neglected as a tiny foal, often left for days without food and was abused.
Thankfully Paula and her team rescued Tinkerbell just in time, she was emaciated and terrified.
Tinkerbell could not be given food straight away as she was not used to it, so Paula and her team syringe fed her Glucose solution and had to be reintroduced to food slowly.
Tinkerbell was so weak that she could not stand on her own, so a makeshift sling was made with Rugs and Karl winched her from the stable roof so she could be helped to stand.
Tinkerbell was a little fighter and wanted to live. Slowly Tinkerbell learnt to stand and walk again, she grew from strength to strength.
Carrie-Ann is Paulas daughter who now helps to rescue and teach. Carrie-Ann worked hard to start training Tinkerbell and I was privileged to help by getting her used to carrying a rider.
The training over a number of weeks, started by leaning on her, laying across her, walking with a rider weight on and gradually to slowly sitting up on her.
Slowly over time Tinkerbell learnt what aids a rider uses and the voice commands that we use.
Tinkerbell has never put a foot wrong and is now a beautiful riding Pony.
Tinkerbell is forever grateful to Paula and the New Range team for her rescue and rehabilitation but most of all her forever home, just like all the others here at New Range.
The Horses and Ponies that we can rehabilitate into the school help fund the rescue work and to teach people the kindest approach to riding and pony care.
I am about to start a 1 month NO chocolate challenge to help raise money and awareness for the New Range Horses and Ponies. I love chocolate, but I love riding and looking after the ponies and horses more and would like to buy a new jump and poles to show my appreciation.
Please can you help me by sponsoring me in my challenge and supporting the New range riding school and their fantastic rescue and rehabilitation program.
Thank you.
