New Propane Generator for Golden Valley Camp

GOLDEN VALLEY CAMP NEEDS YOUR HELP TO RAISE $30,000.00 FOR THE PURCHASE OF A PROPANE FUELED GENERATOR!!!
Due to Public Safety Power Shutoff(PSPS), implemented by PG&E, the GVC Staff and Board have decided this timely purchase is imperative to keep camp up and running for our customers during power outages.
Additionally, the Covid-19 pandemic has caused non-profit organizations, like Golden Valley Camp, to face challenging times like never before. Now, more than ever we need your prayers and support!
In the 2019 dry season, PG&E shut off our power several times. We were forced to cancel two scheduled camps. This was devastating to campers as well as a great loss of income for GVC. We were also unable to book two potential "first time" camps that wanted to use our facilities on dates a power outage was announced. Again, this was a great disappointment to them, loss of income for us, and a missed opportunity to serve others.
Unfortunately, one power outage occurred during a camp and we were without electricity for the last 24 hours of their reservation. This camp(of adult men pictured above) handled the situation patiently but it was a real eye opener as to what the future will hold. PG&E is planning to continue this wildfire safety campaign for the next 10 years. Golden Valley Camp fully understands and kindly supports their efforts and yet simply put...every time electricity is shut off, camp is shut down!
We are excited and grateful that there is a solution to the problem! When PSPS is implemented, we do not have to cancel camps, turn customers away, lose revenue, and deny campers the amazing and life changing experience of Golden Valley Camp. There is light at the end of the tunnel! A propane fueled generator would immediately provide the necessary electricity to operate camp without any disruption to our campers.
Camps cancelling this spring, due to the Covid-19 social distancing and shelter-in-place order, are looking to reschedule this fall, which is prime PSPS season. Having the new generator would ensure GVC stays operational during PSPS times...and at all times in the future!
Since 1966, Golden Valley Camp has provided a wonderful, rustic, peaceful, and memorable setting for camps of all kinds. Over half a century and thousands of campers later, the GVC mission remains the same...to lovingly serve others as they grow closer to God and closer to each other. If you have ever been here, you know what a very special place it is! To those that have not yet experienced the joys of GVC, we look forward to meeting you!
We desperately need your prayers and financial donations to ensure GVC is always powered up and able to continue God's work! Additional donations above the $30,000.00 goal would go directly toward operational expenses and maintenance needs that have suffered due to PSPS and the Covid-19 crises.
