New Magnolia Girls Troop 80

Hello friends and families,
My name is Marc Todd and I would like to tell you about a brand new scout program starting in Magnolia for girls. A year ago the Boy Scouts of America changed their name to Scouts BSA and started allowing girls to join their Cub Scouts programs. A little over a month ago BSA started allowing the formation of all girl troops.
The Seattle neighborhood of Magnolia has a VERY rich history of scouting, with the BSA Troop 80 about to celebrate its 100th anniversary. I am thrilled to announce the start of a Girls Troop 80 in Magnolia. A number of girls have already joined this new troop, and we expect many others will be interested in joining and becoming founding members of this girls troop.
For the past 4 years I have been the Den leader for a group of 17 cub scouts. I was actively involved in Boy Scouts growing up and earned the rank of Eagle Scout, and I am excited to announce that I will be the new Scoutmaster for the Magnolia Girls Troop 80.
A few other adults have generously agreed to donate their time to help manage this new troop, and help facilitate meetings and campouts. My goal in starting this GoFundMe page is to provide the Girls Troop treasury with some getting started money, without having to burden these adult volunteers to donate too much of their own money. The things we plan to purchase are basic camping items like patrol boxes, first aid kits, stoves, lanterns, and rain tarps. We do live in Seattle after all.
We plan to have our scouts participate in fundraising activities throughout the year to help grow the troop treasury. I’m just hoping with the help of friends and family, this new troop won’t have to start the fundraising at zero.
