New Lifesaving Van

You can make a difference by donating today to Grand Rivers Humane Society!

We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization located in Grand Junction, Colorado. We are dedicated to rescuing cats and dogs from Mesa County Animal Services, a county shelter. Grand Rivers Humane Society needs a new van so we can keep homeless pets comfortable and safe when transporting to and from the county shelter for vet appointments and to our adoption events.

Our current van has exceeded it's life expectancy and we are worried that one day it may give out when we need it most. We raised $2,365 under the GoFundMe Charity platform for this van. We want to thank the 25 people that have already donated.  We really appreciate your support. We will continue this campaign under the GoFundMe platform, as GoFundMe has dropped the Charity platform.

Dr Joseph Maruca started Grand Rivers Humane Society in 2005. His sole mission was to save lives by pulling homeless pets from Mesa County Animal Services and finding them loving homes. Because Grand Rivers Humane Society provides this essential service, MCAS no longer has to euthanize pets due to lack of space. Dr Maruca lost his battle with cancer in 2019, knowing that his dream had been realized. He saved over 6,800 homeless cats and dogs. We are dedicated to continuing his legacy of saving at-risk homeless pets.

Also, because MCAS does not have funding for higher-end medical costs, we take the injured and sick homeless pets under our wings. We get them the care they need and find them forever homes. We have helped many dogs and cats with orthopedic surgeries, dogs with parvo treatment, heartworm treatment, eyelid entropion, etc.

We are a small but mighty team of volunteers with a passion to get as many homeless pets out of the county shelter as possible and into loving homes. This need never ends. Grand Rivers Humane Society is strictly run by volunteers, except for two part-time employees that care for our cats and manage our cat program at our Kitty Korner location.

As our area grows, the homeless pet population will grow with it. A new van would give us a greater capacity for dogs and cats.

Please consider donating to our lifesaving van fund and please spread the word about our campaign.

Thank you so much! We appreciate the support and the homeless pets appreciate it too!
