New knees for Domino

Donation protected

My name is Ben and this is my dog Dominos story... I am a Marine Corp veteran that recently stopped working due to my disabilities from the military. My family and I adopted a dog from the South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter about a month ago and started noticing almost immediately she was having a bit of trouble walking correctly. When she got excited and started to run she would yelp in pain. I chalked this up to her just being spayed prior to the adoption and thought rest might help. After a couple of weeks without relief I brought her to the East Oak Veterinary Hospital in Vineland, NJ and found out she has patellar luxation in both hind legs and will require surgery or else she will start to delevelop bad arthritis.  The vet even told me she should not have been adoptable, and the shelters on staff vet should have noticed her condition.  It breaks my heart because she is only two years old and it appears there may have been abuse from her previous owners.  I called the South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter and told them what I had discovered hoping they would help with the cost since her injuries were not disclosed prior to adoption, and they said they could not but I could bring the dog back.  We have only had Domino for a month but she has become a part of the family and her loving gentle nature has won our whole family over. I see her as almost a service dog in that she helps me on a daily basis keeping me calm and feeling needed. You could say we rescued each other. I am on a limited income and can not afford the surgery it would take to fix her back legs and I couldn’t bare to take her back to the vet to be put down or watch her suffer as her legs get worse.  I just got the X-rays and I’m not sure what surgeon to take her too but I’m looking for one that will maybe do it for a fair price.  The Vet I have said he used to do orthopedic surgery but no longer does. He is the one that told me what the cost could be. Anything you are able to donate would be greatly appreciated and I thank you in advance for taking the time to read my story and hopefully contributing to Dominos happy healthy future. Help me save Domino again! If anyone knows any good surgeons that would help please let me know!
