New Implants for Tyshaun

Donation protected
12 years ago I gave birth to my 3rd son, Tyshaun Isaiah Williams. My sweet baby boy was perfect and life felt complete. However; life threw my family a curve ball. At the very young age of 14 months, Tyshaun was diagnosed with profound hearing loss. After many tests and evaluations I was given 2 choices: let him be a part of the deaf community and learn how to live life doing sign language OR have cochlear implant surgery. Cochlear implant surgery is an electronic device that provides a sense of sound to a person whom is profoundly deaf or severely hard of hearing.  So I chose cochlear implants. Every Mother in this world wants their baby to not only hear their voice, but most importantly; hear their mother say I LOVE YOU. So as any mother, I was determined to do whatever it would take since I couldn’t trade places with him.

Tyshaun had his 1st cochlear implant Surgery at 2 years old on his left side and his right side followed the same implant Surgery at age 4. After the 1st surgery he went to school At Northern Voices, this was an oral school so they could teach him Not only how to talk but also how to listen as well. While attending Northern Voices Tyshaun also went to the University of MN for intense speech 2x/wk for 2 1/2 years. He attended these classes until he started 1st grade in the mainstream schools. I was beyond determined to provide a normal childhood for my baby boy, no matter what it takes. & I always will be devoted to do whatever it takes.

Tyshaun is now 12yrs old and is one of the sweetest boys you could ever meet...He has a smile that is so contagious, it melts your heart and he is just an old soul with a huge huge heart!!

Which is why the next set of news breaks my heart.

I was recently told that his current implants are now obsolete and can no longer repair if anything happens. PLEASE UNDERSTAND this is Tyshaun’s ONLY  way to NOT ONLY be able to hear but communicate. This is absolutely a necessity for his daily needs. He’s very active in baseball, basketball and football. People fail to understand he is just like any other normal 12 year old boy, he just needs extra help to hear.

The cost of new cochlear implants is $19,400.00 with my medical insurance coverage they will Only pay $13,238.06 which leaves me with the difference of $6,161.94 to pay UP FRONT, NO PAYMENT PLANS AVAILABLE.

As a single mother I began to feel so helpless all over again. This is such a financial burden to me. I work hard to provide  and this setback makes me feel as though I’m failing my baby. But I refuse to give up. I have to set all my pride aside and do this for my baby. He needs this more than you could ever know. To see his face when the Doctor told us the cost; Tyshaun knows we don’t have that kind of money just lying around. I’m determined to find a way for Tyshaun, these new implants are mandatory for him to continue to succeed.

Please find it in your heart to give whatever you can.

Thank you in advance for your listening ear, prayer and donation
