Want to join us in making a difference? New Horizons Baptist Church (formerly Cornwallis Street Baptist) is getting a new look and feel with new spaces for greater ministry in Halifax's north end. We are raising money towards our $1.4M renovation and expansion. We are challenging 25,000 people to donate $20 or more, but any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution in helping our church make a positive difference in our community and city.
The historic Cornwallis Street Baptist Church (CSBC), established in 1832, has been a long-standing, integral member of the Halifax community. Situated in the city’s north central neighbourhood, the church contributes to this vibrant community by providing spiritual guidance, benevolence, fellowship, education opportunities, and lively worship services.
For nearly 200 years, our church has worked with other community organizations and partnered with sister churches and city agencies in collaborative efforts to address poverty, education gaps, violence, and social injustice. These efforts have been guided by the church’s biblical understanding of its call and witness as disciples of Jesus Christ.
At a duly called congregational meeting on May 6, 2018, Cornwallis Street Baptist Church voted to change its name to New Horizons Baptist Church. The change was ratified by the province of Nova Scotia in July 2018. The Canada Revenue Agency is still updating its records, but be assured, your donation is to New Horizons Baptist Church, Halifax.
