Help provide shelter: Typhoon in the Philippines

This fundraiser is on behalf of my sister-in-law, who is desperately trying to raise funds for roofs/roofing materials for people in her home island of Bohol in the Philippines after a supertyphoon hit!

Hi Everyone, my Name is Dr Lydia Marikit Brown, residing in  Bohol.

 

Last December 16, 2021 the whole island of Bohol and the island of Cebu were subjected to the wrath of supertyphoon Odette.

 

Here in Bohol, the towns of Pitogo, Ubay and Tubigon were at the eye of the storm and sustained devastating damage.

 

I am hoping to raise funds to help get roofing and shelter for the severely affected residents of these communities.

 

At the moment, they have no houses, most of them who have houses have no roofs, no drinking water, no electricity, no food, no gasoline and no cellphone signals. As a result these residents of Ubay have to travel 60km out of Ubay to let people know what is going on with them.

 

I was there myself and recorded the following footage you are about to see.

 

Right  now, there are private relief operations going on focusing on providing food, water and clothing.

 

My aim is to raise funds to be able to buy roofing materials to help as many of the affected communities as possible. The sooner they can get a roof over their heads, the sooner they can be protected against the elements. This will now allow them to focus their energy on other productive activities such as getting food, water, jobs. Also, being back in their own homes will remove them from shelters and drastically slow down the spread of infectious diseases like chicken pox, measles, covid.

 

As shelter is one of man's basic needs, I believe helping them with this need will also be instrumental in helping them get back on their feet.

 

Any amount no matter how small, will go a long way to helping them.
