30’ RV (home) for WW2 Veteran

For those that follow us on Facebook under our business White Morpha in Paige Texas than you know Robert, our WW2 Veteran that lives with us. (Please follow his story to learn more and see more photos)
In June 2017 he had a stroke and was also removed from his home having not been checked on by for 2 weeks or more. His caregiver unsure when he was there last....when he did come he found Robert on the floor in very bad shape. Hospital said he was extremely malnourished and dehydrated and kidneys failing.
Robert lived in his kitchen and had no running water and his home covered in rat poop as well as dead rats found in the layers of trash accumulated over the years. (To see my husband and I and our clean up photos and videos refer to FB)
He had no bathroom and no working telephone. APS removed him and I was the only one Robert would go with. He told me “I need your help.”
So after being married 3 days I asked my husband if we could take him in. Since my husband is so amazing he said yes without hesitation:)
Initially we had him in a nursing home for much needed therapy but as he got stronger he begged us to take him out and one day he packed his room and when we came to take him out for the day, it turned into our permanently:) We has only one bedroom in our small apartment in back of antique shop, so we scrambled to find where we’d put him. First he slept in shop with the cats and loved it but I knew this wouldn’t work long term. So we financed an RV.
Up to date we have spent $27,000 of our own personal savings to get him situated and at this point we need help affording the RV cost of $16,000 as we are unable to afford anymore. We wish we could but the financial strain is great, but we are not giving up.
We have been fighting for assistance with VA and Medicaid since June 2017. Up to date we have received $100 in an HEB card and no other assistance except a $300 check from a very sweet customer of ours (which we were so touched by) hence us using our own money. We just need help helping Robert. We also need to finish cleaning his house and getting running water going to it and a restroom so we can take him home for overnight visits so he can sort through his belongings and finalize what he needs to.
This go fund me is for the RV only for Robert as we just cannot afford anymore and taking the monthly payment off and insurance would help greatly.
As you all know I restore art for galleries in Austin but I had quit that in August 2017 to have time to take care of Robert. Now my husband and I run the antique shop with Robert by our side. We love being able to have a business he can be involved with.
But It’s just been too much of a financial strain and we need help with the RV so we can keep him here safe, healthy, happy and loved:)
