New Home for Jeanne Maas

Donation protected

We are making this appeal on behalf of our dear friend Jeanne Maas who is now homeless because of the volcano eruption on the Big Island of Hawaii. Jeanne met her beloved husband Charlie when they were both serving in the Navy in the late sixties. They lived simply, worked hard and saved up enough to build a little house on a piece of land on the rainy side of the island in Leilani Estates. Then Charlie died of complications resulting from colon cancer, and Jeanne lost her other half.

Now, at age 67, she has lost her home as well. Jeanne has been staying with a series of friends since the eruption and has scraped together the funds to buy a new piece of land. It will literally take the last of her savings to build a small home on it.  This drive to raise $20,000 will help to pay for interior finishes such as flooring and cabinetry as well as half of the septic system she will share with her friends and soon- to- be neighbors, who also lost their home to the volcano. We hope you will try to imagine what it might be like to find yourself a widow and a vagabond at her age, and please consider giving anything you can to help Jeanne have a safe place to live again.

ALSO, if you could please share this to your Facebook page, we understand that is a huge way to make these campaigns more effective.  Thank you!!!
